Frequently asked questions

1When is my babysitter profile active?
Your babysitter profile becomes active on the Babysitting.lu platform once it has been thoroughly reviewed and approved by one of our local partners. This process ensures that all profiles meet our standards of safety and quality. Once your profile is active, you will be able to connect with families and offer your babysitting services.
2When does my babysitter profile expire/When is my profile deactivated?
Profiles on Babysitting.lu remain active as long as they meet the platform's standards and the user continues to use the service. The profile will be deactivated after the babysitter reaches the age of 29 or after 365 days of inactivity.
3Can I deactivate or delete my babysitter profile?
As a babysitter, you can set your profile status to “active” or “inactive” to make your availability visible. If you no longer wish to have a babysitter profile on the website, you can delete your profile in your settings.
4What profile photos are allowed (and what is rejected)?
Profile photos must adhere to certain guidelines to be approved on Babysitting.lu. They should be clear, recent, appropriate and may not be revealing. The photo must be taken alone, in form of a portrait photo, and no other person may be seen in it. All photos that do not meet these standards will be rejected.
5What is the chat function? / May I as a babysitter contact parents?
As a babysitter, you may only contact parents on Babysitting.lu after they have reached out to you first. Once a parent initiates contact by expressing interest in your profile, you can respond to his message to discuss the details of the job and your availability. The babysitter can postulate a babysitting-session from the parents and is then contacted by the parents. This policy helps maintain a positive and respectful experience for all users on the platform.
6What is a babysitting-session and how can I find a slot?
You can browse through available babysitting opportunities by searching through the posted babysitting-sessions on the platform. Make sure to review the details of each session, including date, time, and location, to determine if it matches your availability and preferences and then you can contact the parents and manifest your interest.
7What is an introductory meeting and why is it essential?
When parents and babysitters first connect on Babysitting.lu, an introductory meeting is encouraged to establish trust and ensure a good fit. Parents can discuss their children's needs, routines, and specific requirements, while babysitters can introduce themselves and discuss their experience. This meeting helps set clear expectations and lays the foundation for a successful relationship. Babysitting.lu recommends documenting key details from the meeting, with a checklist available for download in the resources section.
8Are there tools or checklists for babysitting?
Yes, Babysitting.lu provides detailed guides, checklists, and educational documents to help users perform their roles effectively. These resources are always accessible on the platform to ensure safe and effective babysitting practices.
9Do I need qualifications for babysitting?
All babysitters listed on our site have completed at least eight hours of specialized training with one of our partner organizations. This training includes general babysitting conditions, essential communication skills, pediatric diseases, child development and entertainment for children (detailed information can be found by clicking on Babysitting.lu charter).
